Privacy Policy
Last updated: Jun 26, 2026
Tollby (“the app”) is a mileage and earnings tracker for gig and rideshare drivers, developed by Joshua Christie (“I,” “me,” “my”). This policy explains how the app handles your information.
Information the app handles
Tollby creates and stores the following on your device so the app can function:
- Shift records you create (dates, hours, platform, earnings, tips, notes)
- Expense records you create (amounts, categories, notes)
- Location data, as described below
- App settings (such as your mileage rate)
All of this is entered by you or generated on your device. None of it is transmitted to me.
Location
When you start a shift, Tollby uses your device’s location — with your permission (“While Using the App”) — to measure the miles you drive during that shift.
- Location is accessed only while a shift is active. Tollby does not track your location in the background outside of an active shift, and does not request “Always” location access.
- Location is used solely to calculate trip distance for your mileage records, processed and stored on your device.
- Your location is never sent to me or to any third party.
- iOS shows the status-bar location indicator while location is in use.
Where your data is stored
- On your device. Your records are stored locally on your iPhone.
- In your iCloud (optional). If you have iCloud enabled, Tollby uses Apple’s iCloud/CloudKit to sync your data across your own devices. That data lives in your personal iCloud account, is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, and is not accessible to me.
I do not operate any servers and do not store your data myself.
What I do NOT do
- I do not collect, receive, transmit, sell, rent, or share your personal data.
- I do not use analytics or advertising SDKs.
- I do not track you across other apps or websites, and I do not use advertising identifiers.
- I do not show ads.
Subscriptions
Tollby offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through Apple’s App Store. Payments are processed by Apple under Apple’s terms; I do not receive your payment details. Apple may provide me with anonymized or aggregated sales information. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.
Third parties
The only third party involved is Apple, which provides the App Store, in-app purchases, and (if you enable it) iCloud sync. Your use of those services is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Children
Tollby is intended for adult gig workers and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect information from children.
Data security
Because your data stays on your device and in your own iCloud account, its security is protected by your device passcode/biometrics and Apple’s iCloud security. I recommend keeping your device and iCloud account secured.
Your control over your data
You can edit or delete any record in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device; data synced to iCloud can be managed through your iCloud settings.
Not tax or financial advice
Tollby is a record-keeping tool to help you track mileage and earnings. It does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Consult a qualified professional for tax matters.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
